Great Wine for All.

George Lucas once said that, “sound is fifty percent of the movie‑going experience.” We believe that drinking good wine is fifty percent of the dining experience.

The Champany cellar and by virtue, the Champany wine list are ever-evolving. We taste, select and carefully cellar our wines. At the core of the list is our great love of and relationship with the South African wine industry. However, more importantly, every wine is listed with the utmost consideration to our style of food. It makes so much sense.

Over the years, Clive Davidson built relationships with independent producers from his homeland, South Africa.

Many of the great names of Cape wine are listed. Many have dined with us and we have had the pleasure of some of them hosting our legendary ‘winemaker dinners’.

You will have the opportunity to taste the world class wines from such great names as Newton Johnson, Miles Mossop, Sebastien Beaumont, Chris Alheit, Lukas Van Loggerenberg and Thelema throughout the 140 bin section and frequently we will feature one of their wines by the glass by the Coravin.

If you are looking for the great names of the Cape, then our list of Cape Icons such as Kanonkop’s Paul Sauer, Jordan’s Cobblers Hill, Newton Johnson’s Windansea Pinot Noir, Meerlust Rubicon and Hartenberg’s Gravel Hill will deliver something very special.

The great wine making regions of the world are all represented.

Burgundy has always remained very close to our hearts and like our South African list, the names are there and we have a remarkable depth of maturity from our visionary cellaring project.

You will have a choice of some of the region’s finest. Armand Rousseau and Domaine de la Romanée-Conti in depth, Tollot-Beaut, Leflaive and Francois Carillon are ever-presents and there’s a list of Domaine Dujac which one customer recently described as ‘verging on obsessional’.

Bordeaux remains rich, well chosen and again, you will enjoy a great read of great names from the great region and with a depth of maturity that will allow you to enjoy those wines when as Clive would’ve put it, ‘when they are ready’. From right bank opulence to the majestic first growths, the list is full of special bottles.

Historically, we have boasted an exceptional section of wines from Alsace dominated by the great wines of F.E. Trimbach that is unrivalled. We strongly recommend that you experience the ultimate food & wine combination with one of our char grilled or smoked salmon dishes. Periodically offered to you by the glass by coravin.

By no means an afterthought, our sections on Spain, Portugal and Italy are constantly changing and packed with some great names and friends on Champany. With some exciting projects from South America, New Zealand and Australia, you will not be short on choices for your dinner at Champany.

The Champany Own Label wines form the bedrock of the wine list

Grown, bottled and produced in South Africa by two of the country’s top wine families.
